Episode 17: How to sell spaces over email and paypal.

Jake LorrainePodcast 19 Comments

Hey fellow marketers! I’m glad to announce that I’ll be immediately making this podcast show a weekly occurence, with episodes released every Wednesday.

As always, if you have any certain requests for content you’d like to see on here, feel free to post in the comments below.

This week, I’ve brought on a great guest, fellow 9×12’er and everyday chump like You and I… Sean in Pennsylvania.  Sean just got out of the Navy last year and needed to find a way to make money, so (understandably) he took up the 9×12 system while he looked for a job in the meantime.

Sean P.

Here he is proudly showing off his latest 9×12 campaign (10,000 baby!).

What’s truly impressive is that Sean sells nearly all his spaces over email, and most of those are done via paypal where he never has to meet them in person.

The few that do request to meet him basically do it as a formality, in which case he closes nearly all of them as he’s just there to pick up a check and prove he’s a real person.

What’s even more impressive is that there’s no trickery involved… he simply uses a very upfront and clear script, and a simple working system to produce results.

He even admits he doesn’t spend nearly as much time as he should on it, but it still works regardless.

Any of you that are trying to incorporate email prospecting AND selling into your 9×12 gameplan should tune your ears into this week’s podcast episode because Sean shares virtually everything.

There’s no reason you can’t duplicate exactly what he’s doing today.

Make sure to thank Sean in our member Facebook group for sharing his experience and simple working strategy.

Try downloading it and playing it instead of streaming it, it might be something in your browser or something…. downloading it should solve the problem. Any problems let me know and I’ll sen dyou the direct download if needed but I think it’s probably just some weird glitch you’re experiencing.

I’m pretty sure he goes over it, he manually collects them through advertising he sees being done locally and then searches out the emails for those company. Nothing techy or complex.

  1. Great info! Love the body of the e-mail which paints the picture as you are one of the businesses promoting yourself equally with a “dozen other businesses” and asking if they “want in”.

  2. Jake,
I tried to go online to purchase “9×12 Fast Profits System” for the $27 but it won’t let me into Pay Pal to make the purchase. I am unable to connect to the website. Was it taken down? Is there a new URL to be able to purchase. What I was looking for was the email template that Amber uses.
    Please advise,
    Thank you,
    Bruce

  3. Great interview! Way to go Jake and Sean. I really like that you kept it real… no hype. You were honest about your own delays and gave realistic numbers that are easily achievable. Thanks. It’s very inspiring. Now I gotta get out there and do it, too.

  4. Jake, have you or any of your 9 X 12 members done, or even tried, any voice broadcasting (i.e. leaving messages on answering machines) essentially letting them know the same information that would be in an email, along with a call back #?

Hi Clifton, 9×12 is a 9″ x 12″ postcard that we send in the mail to 5,000 or 10,000 local homes. We break the postcard up into spaces that we sell for local businesses to advertise on.

  5. Bob, 10 seconds into the podcast I thought that it would be a great idea to show prospects the pic of Sean (or any of us) standing in front of their massive pile of cards. Imagine the thoughts going through a prospects head when they realize THEIR ad would be on all those cards !

    1. Yeah, great question. The other link above that someone else posted doesn’t work anymore either. This is like 8 years old now so the emailing to businesses this offer probably doesn’t even work anymore it’s so outdated. 8 years in internet time is like 20 in real years :-(

Email is a little tougher (a lot of us have switched to FB messenger now), but the good thing is, 95% of this whole system and direct mail in general is still the same as it was basically for the last 100 years. Postcards/direct mail/marketing doesn’t really change much over time.
